According to the Federal Register, the FAA proposes to eliminate the third-class medical certificate requirement for military pilot trainees. Military medical examinations already meet or exceed FAA third-class standards, the agency has determined. Because trainees already pass military medical scrutiny, requiring them to also satisfy FAA standards is redundant. The proposal aims to reduce administrative burden and costs while maintaining flight training safety.
