Senate confirms Todd Blanche as attorney general

Per Axios, the Senate confirmed Todd Blanche, President Trump's former personal lawyer, as attorney general in a fifty to forty-nine vote early Saturday. Every Democrat present opposed the nomination, along with Republicans Murkowski and Collins. Key GOP senators switched their positions after Blanche guaranteed the elimination of a controversial one point seven seven six billion dollars political-weaponization fund. His confirmation follows months as acting attorney general, during which the Justice Department has maintained close alignment with the White House.
