Nazi shipwrecks emerge from the depths as Europe’s Danube dries up

A submerged chapter of history is literally surfacing. Intense drought has exposed dozens of second world war warships in the Danube River between Serbia and Romania, where wrecks normally buried under the riverbed are now visible on sandbanks. The Guardian reports that some vessels are still believed to contain weapons, and unexploded ordnance has been recovered alongside military equipment.
