Fuel cost hits Lahore Metro service

The private operator of Lahore's Metro Bus has given notice it will suspend operations from August eleventh after negotiations with the Punjab Mass Transit Authority over rising fuel costs failed. According to the company, it has exhausted its financial reserves; a court order from late July directed the authority to supply fuel directly, but the PMA says it cannot act without government approval. Operating the twenty-seven-kilometer route since twenty-thirteen, the firm claims the fuel reimbursement formula never covered actual costs and losses mounted as diesel prices climbed. The PMA calls the suspension threat blackmail and says it will challenge the court order—but if fuel supply doesn't materialize in the next two days, the buses stop.
