Israeli troops enter Lebanese village, erect earthen barrier overnight

Israeli troops entered a Lebanese village designated for Lebanese army control under a US-sponsored agreement and erected an earthen barrier overnight. Middle East Eye reports the military moved into Zawtar al-Gharbiya on Sunday, shortly after midnight, building the barrier near the town square and blocking the eastern road entrance. The village was one of two pilot zones where the Lebanese army was supposed to take control following a framework agreement signed in June. Local authorities remain uncertain whether Israeli forces stayed in the area. The Israeli military said it was unaware of the event—a statement that came as Israeli forces continue occupying a broad band of territory along Lebanon's southern border.
