Britain is dropping 20 concrete reef cubes and 44 tons of scallop shells into the sea to bring back native oysters

Per Times of India, Britain is deploying an underwater restoration project in the North Sea: twenty concrete reef cubes and forty-four tons of scallop shells to revive native oyster populations that have declined by ninety-five percent since the eighteen hundreds. The structures provide a stable foundation and habitat for the oysters to reestablish themselves, and volunteers are helping by cleaning and attaching oysters to the artificial reefs in an effort to restore this collapsed ecosystem.
