Chhattisgarh Christian group chief arrested for ‘hurting religious sentiments’ on social media

The president of the Chhattisgarh Christian Forum was arrested Friday for a social media comment that a Bharatiya Janata Party official called 'highly objectionable.' Scroll.in reports that Arun Pannalal faced arrest following a complaint about his Facebook post about a Hindu deity. He was charged under Indian law with promoting enmity between groups, deliberately outraging religious feelings, and insulting with intent to provoke a breach of peace. Pannalal, who has raised concerns about discrimination against Christians in Chhattisgarh, was sent to judicial custody Saturday.
