Police form new team to probe Mir Raza Ali's murder; murder charge added to FIR

world

A Karachi murder case has been reopened after new forensic evidence contradicted the initial investigation. Twenty-five-year-old businessman Mir Raza Ali went missing on July twenty-eighth and was found dead in bushes in the city's Gulistan-i-Jauhar area weeks later. Police had floated suicide as a possibility, but Dawn reports a second postmortem, conducted after his body was exhumed, found he had been shot in the back, ruling that out. Sindh police have now added a murder charge to the case and formed a new five-member team to investigate, though the family's lawyer says they've lost faith and want the entire original team replaced.
