Indian EV batteries outrun Tesla and BYD

business

Per Scroll.in, Indian electric vehicle makers are outpacing Tesla and BYD when it comes to battery efficiency. Tata Motors topped the International Council on Clean Transportation's twenty twenty-five assessment, with its vehicles averaging one hundred six watt-hours per kilometer. Mahindra followed at one hundred thirteen watt-hours per kilometer. Tesla and BYD — the world's largest EV maker — placed third and fourth respectively among the twenty-two largest automakers evaluated. Across the industry, efficiency gains are increasingly rare: only eight manufacturers improved their energy consumption year over year, while twelve saw declines. India's electric vehicles currently represent less than five percent of new car sales in the country, though the government is targeting thirty percent electrification by twenty thirty.
