The asteroid that may be three worlds
science
Phys.org reports that researchers have finally clarified the shape of asteroid forty-four Nysa, settling a mystery that's persisted for more than a hundred years. The asteroid is one of the largest and brightest E-type asteroids in the main belt, with a surface composition rich in enstatite. Earlier observations suggested it was elongated, or possibly two objects fused together, though the exact details remained unclear until now.
