Japan marked the eighty-first anniversary of the atomic bombing of Nagasaki on Sunday. Mayor Shiro Suzuki used the occasion to denounce growing support for nuclear deterrence around the world, including within Japan itself, Africanews reports. Nagasaki, alongside Hiroshima, remains one of only two cities ever struck by a nuclear weapon in wartime.
