This closure comes as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected a fifteen-point Gaza ceasefire plan endorsed by US President Donald Trump, vowing Israel will not withdraw militarily until Hamas is genuinely disarmed. Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian, meanwhile, says this is the best moment for a deal with America, citing the country's cohesion and strength. In the Strait itself, the UAE reports Iran launched a missile attack on one of its state oil company's carriers, while a British maritime monitor documented a separate vessel catching fire after being struck by an unknown projectile—the fire was extinguished with no environmental damage. The US military says it has allowed more than thirty ships carrying humanitarian aid through since the blockade started, but has also turned away fifty-three vessels and disabled two others.
