Transmitting Analog Video Via Frikkin’ Laser Beams

Per Hackaday, a hobbyist has successfully transmitted analog video over a laser beam—using visible light instead of radio waves. The project, called LYME 101, uses a Raspberry Pi to generate a composite video signal that modulates a red laser diode. A photodiode and amplifier circuit on the receiving end reconstruct the video. The system works with CRT monitors and, with some tuning, even feeds into USB capture cards. Powered by a pair of nine-volt batteries and built from basic components, it was a strong contender in the recent 'Frikkin' Laser Beams' challenge.
