More than six decades after draining the land for a suburban development, Southwest Florida is restoring it. The Picayune Strand Restoration Project is now complete—according to Times of India, the work removed over two hundred sixty miles of roads and plugged nearly fifty miles of canals across fifty-five thousand acres of wetlands. The project is expected to rebuild wetlands, improve water quality, and restore wildlife habitat.
