British Columbia to get federal assistance as wildfire forces evacuations

Wildfires raging around Summerland and Peachland have forced thousands to evacuate British Columbia, and Canada's federal government says it will step in to help, offering shelter and accommodation for displaced residents. The Straits Times reports the assistance was announced Sunday as the fires continue to spread.
