All drones share one critical weakness: battery life. In search-and-rescue, military operations, and infrastructure inspection, landing to swap batteries can be too dangerous or impossible. Per New Atlas, an improved laser receiver enables wireless over-the-air charging during flight, letting drones stay aloft without needing to land.
