Russia says it captures two villages in eastern Ukraine, Kyiv reports frontline battles

Russia's Defence Ministry says its forces have seized Vasyutinske, near the eastern Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk, and Toretsk, southwest of Druzhkivka. The Hindu reports Kyiv has confirmed frontline fighting continues in the area. Both towns sit in Ukraine's Donetsk region, a focal point of the war since Russia's 2022 invasion.
