Tarbela Dam attains maximum storage level

According to Dawn, Tarbela Dam, Pakistan's second-largest reservoir, reached its maximum storage level of fifteen hundred fifty feet on Sunday—a significant boost to the country's water conservation capacity. The rapid filling, driven by rains and snowmelt, marks substantial progress compared to recent years: on the same date in twenty twenty-five, the dam stood at ninety-six percent, and in twenty twenty-four, just ninety percent. Yet despite reaching full capacity, Pakistan's flood forecasting division is warning of low-level flood conditions at several Indus barrages and predicting urban flooding in cities including Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, and Lahore as fresh rains move in.
