According to Boing Boing, the Great American State Fair opened on the National Mall with empty stalls, electrical chaos, and a centerpiece Ferris wheel that operates only intermittently due to a faulty generator. The sixteen-day celebration of America's two hundred fiftieth birthday also featured a cow named Melania.
