Tanzania, Uganda agree plans for East African energy hub
business
Semafor reports that Tanzania and Uganda signed an agreement with Vitol—the world's largest independent oil trader—to develop Tanga Port into a regional energy hub. Uganda is preparing to start commercial oil production, with supplies flowing through a new pipeline to Tanga Port for global export. Uganda imports most of its fuel through Kenya, but this hub could redirect those flows and reshape regional supply chains. Tanzania's government estimates potential infrastructure investments could exceed twenty billion dollars.
