How does California’s new $3,500 EV rebate work?
tech
With federal EV tax credits now gone, California has launched "MyFirstEV"—Governor Newsom's new rebate program to boost electric vehicle adoption. First-time EV buyers can get three-thousand-five-hundred dollars off a new vehicle under fifty thousand dollars, or seventeen-hundred-fifty dollars off a used one under twenty-five thousand dollars, with the discount applied instantly at the point of sale. CalMatters reports the program covers battery-electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles from fifteen participating automakers, including Tesla, Lucid, and Hyundai, with two-hundred-seventy million dollars in state and automaker funding. Low-income Californians can stack this rebate with additional incentive programs for even greater savings.
