The demand mirrors Iran's request for war reparations to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. According to Trump's Truth Social post, he wants reparations not only for damages from the five-month military conflict, but also for attacks Iran is widely believed to have facilitated through allied militias against U.S. soldiers over more than twenty years—dating back to the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
