More than one hundred people have died in western Colombia after a magnitude seven point four earthquake, according to the Guardian. The US and Colombian geological surveys say the quake struck near the town of seven thirty-four a.m. local time on Monday, centered in the western department of Chocó, collapsing and severely damaging buildings in major cities including Cali and Pereira. The tremor was also felt in neighboring Venezuela, which is still recovering from a deadly double earthquake on June twenty-fourth.
