Woman ‘tortured’ for taking possession of grabbed land in Sahiwal

In Sahiwal, a woman named Mardan Bibi was allegedly abducted and beaten after finally reclaiming inherited land that had been illegally occupied for nearly thirty years, Dawn reports. Officials had just restored the property to her under a scheme called Ghori Pal when a group of armed attackers returned once authorities left, dragging her away by her hair. Police, alerted through a helpline, rescued her and arrested six of the twelve suspects, while a manhunt continues for the rest.
