226 Ansel Adams Photographs of Great American National Parks Are Now Online
other
Two hundred twenty-six photographs by Ansel Adams are now freely available online, thanks to the National Archives. The images were originally commissioned in nineteen forty-one for a photo mural at the Department of the Interior Building—a project halted during World War II and never resumed. Per Open Culture, Adams captured some of America's most iconic national parks: Yosemite, where he launched his career; the Grand Canyon, Grand Teton, Zion, and many others. The collection preserves not just these beloved landscapes, but Adams' lifelong advocacy for their protection.
