Brent oil price passes $90 as Iran-US deal hopes fade

Oil prices climbed above ninety dollars a barrel on Tuesday as hopes for a US-Iran deal fade. Brent gained more than two point five percent from Monday, while West Texas Intermediate jumped two point seven percent to eighty-four dollars and thirty-two cents. Per Middle East Eye, crude has surged more than ten percent over the past week as the US and Iran appear no closer to a deal on the Strait of Hormuz despite optimistic signals from Washington earlier this month. The latest complication: Donald Trump said he would seek conflict compensation from Iran as part of any peace settlement, countering Tehran's demand for US war reparations as a precondition to any agreement. With both sides staking competing financial claims, negotiations face yet another hurdle.
