Historical DNA reveals largetooth sawfish have lost much of their genetic diversity

Per Phys.org, the largetooth sawfish—a critically endangered ray—has lost much of its genetic diversity over the past century and a half. Once widespread in tropical waters worldwide, the species has now disappeared from much of its former range.
