Australia's plastic exports may deepen health risks in Indonesian communities

Phys.org reports on research from the George Institute showing Australia exported more than twenty-two thousand metric tons of plastic waste to Indonesia in twenty twenty-three and twenty twenty-four. Indonesia has received over two hundred thousand metric tons of imported waste it cannot safely process, with eighty percent ending up burned or dumped — raising health concerns for local communities.
