world

Police in Rawalpindi shot and killed a man on Mall Road on Tuesday after he allegedly opened fire on security personnel, injuring one official. Dawn reports the man, identified by police as Muhammad Hussain, was described by officials as an active PTI member from Khyber district, with a party flag, bullets, and weapons allegedly recovered from him. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar condemned the incident as part of what he called PTI's pattern of violent protest, tying it to the party's planned long march to Islamabad set for September twenty-seventh. Police say the investigation, including evidence from the man's phone, is ongoing.
