NASA Funds 'Interworld Slingshot' Concept to Map Solar System Resources

NASA is exploring a new approach to mapping solar system resources called the Interworld Slingshot, according to Universe Today. Rather than launching dedicated probes to each asteroid or lunar site—a prohibitively expensive approach—a single small spacecraft would visit multiple locations and analyze their composition from tens of kilometers away. As NASA pursues human expansion into the solar system, efficiently mapping resources has become a critical technical challenge, and this new concept aims to address that need.
