“An Absolute Climate Catastrophe”
science
Kottke highlights remarks from British climate scientist Kevin Anderson, who projects that current emissions trends will push global warming to three or four degrees Celsius by the end of this century—well above the Paris Agreement's one point five to two degree target, which Anderson describes as catastrophic for all life. Despite thirty years of awareness and discussion, he says, actual climate action has stalled. Leaders across politics, academia, and media have, in his view, chosen rhetoric and greenwash over real change. But Anderson offers one thread of hope: this outcome isn't inevitable. It results from deliberate choices that can be reversed.
