State Senator Hillman Frazier says Mississippi now needs statewide rules before more facilities are built. He points to other states already regulating the industry: North Carolina repealed tax breaks for data center electricity, Florida regulated water usage, and Texas is considering eliminating sales tax exemptions while requiring companies to pay more for infrastructure costs. Frazier argues Mississippi can attract economic investment while protecting communities, but it requires transparent standards and clear rules first.
