Bill Spotlight: Space Superiority Readiness Act
politics
Two senators—one from each party—introduced the Space Superiority Readiness Act, a bill aimed at preparing the U.S. military for potential conflict in space with China, per Payload Space. Senators Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada and Katie Britt of Alabama are backing the measure, which directs the Pentagon to expand the Space Force's wargaming and simulations of in-space conflict, develop new training for troops on space control operations, and submit an unclassified report to Congress on China's commercial space sector and its national security implications. The senators developed the proposal following a visit to Pituffik Space Base in Greenland, where they observed missile-warning systems and space operations. The bill is now being pursued as an amendment to the fiscal year twenty twenty-seven defense authorization act.
