Biocultural families: Study centers Indigenous priorities in connections to environment

A Washington State University horticulturist has partnered with the Mi'kmaq First Nations of Canada to develop a new framework exploring how humans connect to plants, animals, and the environment. Per Phys.org, the model—called 'biocultural families'—centers Indigenous knowledge and priorities in these relationships. The collaboration brings Indigenous perspectives to academic environmental research.
