Marshand Crisler, former interim Hinds County sheriff, is released from prison and put on house arrest

Marshand Crisler, former interim sheriff of Hinds County, has walked out of federal prison and into house arrest. Per Mississippi Today, he was transferred to community confinement and will serve the remainder of his two-and-a-half-year bribery sentence at home. While acting as interim sheriff in twenty twenty-one, Crisler accepted nine thousand five hundred dollars from an FBI informant. In return, he allegedly tipped off the informant about investigations, moved his relative to a safer part of the county jail, gave him a job with the sheriff's office, and allowed him to possess a firearm despite a felony record. He'll complete his sentence under house arrest, followed by three years of supervision and a fifteen-thousand-dollar fine.
