ICE to spend up to $20m on gloves that can deliver painful electric shocks

ICE plans to spend up to twenty million dollars on gloves designed to deliver painful electric shocks to people, according to a notice published Monday by the Department of Homeland Security. The Guardian reports the devices, called Glove, are made by Compliant Technologies LLC of Lexington, Kentucky, with the manufacturer saying the shock is usually effective in bringing individuals into compliance in under three seconds. The purchase is expected to be completed by March.
