Per Hackaday, a maker named Rich built a household telegraph system: two synchronized units, one in his office and one downstairs, that let him and his wife signal status using motorized indicators—mimicking the engine-room telegraphs on old ships. Moving a pointer to 'busy' triggers the matching unit to respond instantly. His wife can point back to remind him about tea, dinner, or hugs. Each device has a gimbal motor, a rotation sensor, an ESP32-S3 microcontroller, and just like a real ship's telegraph, a bell to grab his attention. The fact that his wife appeared in the project video and wasn't filing for divorce suggests this unconventional communication method actually works.
