At least 14 artisanal miners killed after illegal mine collapses

At least fourteen artisanal miners were killed and eight more injured when an illegal mine collapsed on top of them, according to South African police. Africanews reports the collapse occurred on Tuesday. Artisanal mining, often carried out informally and without official safety oversight, remains a persistent hazard across parts of South Africa.
