Body of missing Pakistani climber Sohail Sakhi recovered on Broad Peak

Search volunteers from Shigar have recovered the body of Pakistani climber Sohail Sakhi, missing since the Broad Peak avalanche on July thirtieth. Dawn reports the men brought the remains down from Camp One to base camp after spotting them at an altitude of five thousand six hundred metres, and the body is expected to be airlifted to Skardu by army helicopter once weather allows. Sakhi was part of a ten-member international expedition led by Nirmal Purja on Broad Peak, one of the world's highest mountains, and officials have confirmed there were no survivors. Two climbers, American Sarah Mallory Geis and Nepalese Nawang Thindu Sherpa, remain unrecovered, with search efforts paused until conditions are judged safe.
