According to France 24, a week-long heatwave sweeping France and much of Europe has put Paris hospitals under severe strain. The Hôpital Européen Georges-Pompidou reported around three thousand emergency admissions on Friday alone—a thirty-six percent increase from normal—as extreme heat drives patients to seek care. The crisis has prompted authorities to activate emergency procedures, recalling the devastation of France's two thousand three heatwave.
