Common pesticide linked to more than double the risk of Parkinson’s disease

According to researchers at UCLA, a commonly used pesticide called chlorpyrifos carries a significant health risk. People exposed to the chemical near their homes were more than twice as likely to develop Parkinson's disease. Laboratory studies show the pesticide damages dopamine neurons and interferes with the brain's ability to clear toxic protein buildup — a hallmark of Parkinson's.
