Govt raises petroleum dealers’ margin to Rs9.98 per litre

Pakistan's government approved a fifteen point five percent increase in fuel pump margins on Friday, raising dealers' commission from eight rupees sixty-four paise to nine rupees ninety-eight paise per litre, taking effect September first. Per Dawn, petroleum dealers had demanded a variable margin of eight percent of retail prices — which at current rates would've pushed their take to twenty-six to thirty rupees per litre, significantly raising fuel costs for consumers. The government instead locked in the fixed increase, balancing the dealers' needs against pressure on everyday transportation costs.
