Northern Gannet

Per Simon Willison's Weblog, Morris the Northern Gannet is a Pacific legend—the only known member of his species in the entire ocean. He first appeared in the Farallon Islands off San Francisco fourteen years ago, then settled in Pillar Point Harbor, where he's remained ever since. Easy to spot: a white bird with a yellow head, hanging around with smaller black Brandt's cormorants near the commercial pier.
