Ex-Cambridge professor at centre of plagiarism scandal found dead

world

A former Cambridge professor at the center of a plagiarism controversy has died. Jason Arday, who became the university's youngest Black professor in 2023, resigned on August fifth amid allegations that parts of his doctoral thesis were plagiarized. He was found unresponsive Friday at a property in south London's Battersea neighborhood; the Metropolitan Police say his death is being treated as unexpected but not suspicious, with a file being prepared for the coroner. Dawn reports that Arday's family blamed a "campaign of harassment" following the allegations, while Cambridge has pledged a broader investigation into both the claims and the circumstances of his original appointment.
