Meet the only known trebuchet casualty in history
science
Archaeologists have identified the only known trebuchet casualty in history. According to University of Bradford paleopathologist Jo Buckberry, who presented the findings at the twenty-fifth European Meeting of the Paleopathology Association, the skeleton belonged to a defender at a medieval siege of Stirling Castle in Scotland, struck in the upper back by a boulder traveling close to three hundred kilometers an hour. The impact shattered his skull in sixty-one places and crushed his ribs, shoulder, and leg, and his remains were found beneath the castle's chapel alongside others who died violently.
