Holding onto your humanity, against the herd
entertainment
The American Repertory Theater opens its twenty twenty-six-twenty twenty-seven season this Friday with a production of Eugène Ionesco's absurdist classic 'Rhinoceros.' The play, originally premiered in nineteen fifty-nine, imagines a small town where people inexplicably begin transforming into rhinos. Directed by Diane Paulus and starring Emmy Award-winners Paul Giamatti, Tatiana Maslany, and John Turturro, the production explores what it means to hold onto your humanity when conformity becomes the path of least resistance. According to Harvard Gazette, the cast sees the play as remarkably timely, touching on themes of individuality amid social media and artificial intelligence. The show runs through September twenty-seventh at the Loeb Drama Center.
