Measles Used to Be in Our Rearview Mirror. Now Cases Are Reaching Record Highs.

More measles cases have hit the CDC this year than in any year since 1991, ProPublica reports, with over four thousand eight hundred fifty infections and three deaths since last year. Two of those who died were unvaccinated girls in West Texas. According to ProPublica, health officials point to falling immunization rates and shifting federal vaccine policy under Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Junior as the backdrop for the resurgence of a disease once considered eliminated in the U.S.
