Activity: Watercolor Aurora Sky

science

NASA Science says a new hands‑on watercolor activity lets K‑8 students paint the northern lights while learning how solar activity shapes Earth’s magnetic field. The lesson, titled Watercolor Aurora Sky, is designed for STEAM classrooms and guides children to recreate the aurora’s vivid colors with watercolors. As a widely known phenomenon, the aurora is a natural light display caused by charged particles from the Sun interacting with Earth’s atmosphere. Educators can use the activity to visually demonstrate heliophysics concepts.
