science
NASA News reports that the agency has launched the sixth TechLeap Prize, the Orbital Clarity Challenge, to spur low‑cost ways to measure thermospheric density, pressure or drag in low Earth orbit. The competition, a joint effort of NASA’s Heliophysics Division, Flight Opportunities program and the Center of Excellence for Collaborative Innovation, will unfold over three phases, with up to four teams moving toward a flight‑ready solution within twelve months. Winners could receive as much as five hundred thousand dollars in prize money and a complimentary test flight on a commercial satellite platform. The challenge opened on August nineteenth, 2026, with registration closing in late October, and NASA, the United States' civilian space agency, is overseeing the effort.
