Is it illegal for the president to spend ‘patriotic’ donations on a White House ballroom or anything else?
politics
per The Conversation (US), a federal appeals court has left a lower court’s injunction in place, halting construction of the White House ballroom unless Congress authorizes the project by a court‑ordered deadline. The court found the administration has not secured the required congressional authorization or appropriations for the 90,000‑square‑foot ballroom, even though private donors have contributed an estimated four hundred million dollars. Thus, construction can only resume if Congress provides the needed authorization.
